How To Get What You Want In Life By Thinking Big

One of many things we underestimate in this life.

Have you ever caught yourself thinking about that tiny little thing you wanted so much which you actually got? It doesn’t necessarily have to be small per se but also something as big as buying a dream house, going on vacay to the Maldives, completing PhD, or being promoted to the director level at your job.

If so, imagine how many more things you can get in life by just directing your mindset and thoughts towards them.

Often we are just so busy with our lives that we simply forget to dream. We forget to visualize our perfect future, our goals and achievements, big or small, and just things that we want to have. Or even people who we want to be with, who we want to meet. If we realize the power of mindset once and for all we won’t neglect to use it as much as possible.

Some of you might think now “I wanted that one thing so much but I never got it no matter how much I thought about it.” Well, that happens. And the reason might be as simple as you were never meant to have it. Yes, as simple as that. You might think that it’s unfair but it’s possible that you won’t be able to have other valuable things in your life if you were to get that.

Anyhow, in this article I share 5 elements that will help you get what you want in life faster than you may think is possible.

Always have an active wish list of things that you desire

I’ve been nailing my desires one by one recently, was feeling so proud and grateful for having all those things. Then I realized that I didn’t have much on my mind after getting all that. I knew that if I don’t take time to think about my further goals I will most likely find myself stuck at where I am right now very soon.

Being stuck is one thing but it would also mean that I don’t have anything to aim for. No aims also equal no advancement, no dreams come true.

The point is- don’t stop! It might feel like you’ve reached the highest point when there is so much more. It can be endless as long you keep thinking and visualizing it for yourself.

Share your goals with other people

While it might not be for everyone depending on the personality it’s a great way to make your goals more realistic. When you put the word out there it helps your mind to perceive the goal more seriously and take action on it.

Whenever I have a goal or a dream in mind, I always try to bring it up in conversations with my family and friends. It works for me 100% of the time!

Keep talking about it until you have it accomplished. In the course of discussions, you might even receive advice on how you can accomplish your goal.

Never think that something is impossible

You never know the kind of turns life can take. Never underestimate yourself and your goals.

Recently I’ve been telling my friend that I finally want to visit America and I need to get my visa. She mentioned that it would be her dream too, however, it’s impossible since she’s married, has two kids and it’s hard to get an American visa from back home.

Her saying “impossible” was the key. It literally means she has close to 0 chance of going to America anytime soon or even never. And it is just because she simply doesn't believe in this idea. After all, I am not even sure if she even wants it or she just thinks that she does. This approach is completely the opposite of right when it comes to getting things you want.

The barriers that we have are only in our heads. They actually don’t exist in reality. If you truly want something you will open up your mind for it.

Do something that will help you get what you want

If I was just sitting at one place and thinking how good it would be to move to Canada I probably would never get here.

I busted my ass learning English, preparing to take the IELTS exam, gathering a ton of paperwork for my visa application, making sure I have enough money to afford living and studying in Canada, etc. Not to say, it takes a lot of courage and self-awareness to go thousands of miles away from home.

After all, my dream became true. I wanted it so much. I could see myself living downtown Toronto, meeting people from different cultures, freezing in winters and watching Raptors games at the Scotiabank Arena. But I also did something to make it happen. I did everything I had to do.

While sometimes it may only take a piece of imagination when other times you have to work for it. Once you have a goal, identify objectives that will help you attain it.

Constantly carry the idea of your goal in your head

I am not saying that you have to think about it nonstop. I would even assume that it won’t be advantageous. However, just make this idea a part of your life. Think about it in the way like you already have it, what would that look like?

All it takes is to plant the idea in your head. After, just let your mind take care of it.

Year after year people create lists of goals that they want to accomplish in the new year. They are all so encouraged and motivated to achieve them all. But when a year comes to end, a lot of people find themselves in a situation where they don’t achieve even 50% of those goals.

Do you ever wonder why? Well, if you just write things on a piece of paper it doesn't guarantee that you will get those things. Agreed?

Instead, try to surround your mind around those goals. Do what it takes to do and simply visualize yourself having what you desire.

Believe it or not but it works! I bet there are a lot of people out there who would say that you can have only as much as you worked for. But they deeply misjudge the power of belief and imagination.
